ATOM PL 2024: Practical Media 101

This full day professional learning seminar is a hands-on workshop that will introduce new, returning or experienced Media teachers to the world of practical media in the classroom. The day will include being taught key techniques in each of the most common Adobe Creative Suite software relevant to your current media productions. The structure of the day will run as follows and is split into a film production focus in the morning, followed by a print production focus in the afternoon.

ATOM PL 2024: U3 O1 – Narratives and their Contexts

The seminar will focus on recent cinematic texts, enabling educators to explore contemporary storytelling and production techniques. Specifically, the seminar will cover films from the last five years, including: Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, Barbie, Godzilla Minus One, and The Batman, among others.
Participants will engage in detailed examinations of narrative structures, contextual influences, and the use of codes and conventions within these films. The goal is to equip teachers with the insights and tools necessary to facilitate dynamic and informed discussions in their classrooms, enhancing students’ understanding and analysis of modern film narratives.
