Darcy Prendergast From his humble beginnings drawing on the living room walls, to making clay body parts to entertain mates in art class, Darcy Prendergast’s skills have grown enormously. Practically raised by stop motion cartoons, Darcy mixes a gritty animated style with a twisted sense of humour to form a juggernaut of entertainment and controversy. Being one of Melbourne's most exciting young directors, he continues to travel the globe in some of the world’s largest film festivals. Now running his own clay animation business ‘Dee Pee Studios’ in Melbourne, Darcy continues to push the boundaries of Clay Animation to unnerving new heights… We still haven’t figured out if that’s a good thing. Darcy was a lead sculptor, assistant animator and model maker on 'Mary and Max', Lectures at RMIT BAIM, 2 time Annecy selected director, Nescafe Big Break winner, Animation director of several short films. Come and learn how he does it! Suitable for teachers with all levels of experience. |

Three different teachers in a variety of school contexts will each take you through Narrative texts that they have found work well in their school context. This day is perfect for any teacher who is weighing up their text options for next year, or after some inspiration as to how to approach the selection and teaching of a Narrative text. The following will be covered while offering a veritable 'buffet' of texts. - How to plan a Narrative Unit - three perspectives
- Intro to Key Skills and Knowledge, what needs to be taught and covered, VCAA requirements
- Analysing Story Elements and teaching tips/techniques
- Analysing Production elements and teaching tips/techniques
- Writing a SAC
- How students should respond to questions and how to mark them
Please note that ATOM does not 'recommend' that teachers use certain texts. This workshop aims to provide food for thought and the tools to take virtually any appropriate narrative text and make great use of it within a VCE classroom.
