
ATOM PL 2026: Narrative Deep Dives

Join us for an after-school webinar deep diving into three Narrative texts that you can use in the VCE Media classroom and other year levels!
- Kayla McCarthy will be teaching Glass Onion (Johnson, 2022)for N&C – a deep dive into key scenes, representations, and contexts of Rian Johnson’s Glass Onion.
- Nick Zomer will be teaching Mad Max: Fury Road (Miller, 2015)for Narrative & their Contexts – a deep dive into key scenes, representations, and contexts of George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road.
- Brett Jenkins will be teaching Psycho (Hitchcock,1960).The iconic shower scene! This deep dive session will explore the 1960’s classic and one of Hitchcock’s most iconic films by exploring the thriller genre alongside representation of gender, feminism, and crime. Despite being a black and white film, this text engages students of a variety of year levels but also academic abilities.

ATOM PL 2026: VCE Media Unit 1 & 3
Date: Thursday 19th February 2026
Time: 9:30AM – 2:30PM. Arrive at 9AM for registration.
Location: GDFL 2, ACMI, Federation Square, Melbourne 3000
This is a full day Professional Learning (PL) seminar held in person at ACMI.
Experienced ATOM Vic Education Committee educators will take teachers through Units 1 & 3 according to the current Media Study Design to equip them with knowledge, resources and reassurance going forward.
This session is aimed at educators of all experience levels teaching VCE Media.

This is an after-school webinar about video essays in VCE Media.
In this professional learning webinar, experienced Media teachers from the ATOMVic Education Committee will take you through:
- How to make Video Essays
- Editing video essays
- A showcase of examples, and;
- A discussion for marking and comparing video essays.
This PL is catered towards VCE Media educators.

Join us for ATOM’s first-ever “How to Teach a Combined Class” webinar, hosted by experienced Media educators who have successfully navigated the challenges of teaching Units 1, 2, 3, & 4 simultaneously. They’ll share how they structure their programs, differentiate content, and maximise outcomes across cohorts, all while keeping engagement high.
This friendly, practical session will include:
- Curriculum planning strategies
- Shared assessments and differentiated tasks
- Resource ideas and teaching materials
